JC Scholars Contribute to Dialogues in Philanthropy for Better Cities

Convened by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and joined by 10 JC Scholars, the Philanthropy for Better Cities Forum was held on 20-21 September 2018. In its second year of running, the Forum was first of its kind in Asia to focus on metropolitan social issues.

Two Nobel laureates and 65 other distinguished speakers from 19 countries around the world filled the 2-day forum with ground-breaking insights and thought-provoking dialogues on the latest trends and future landscape of philanthropy.

Exclusive opportunities were arranged for JC Scholars, including the private Welcome Dinner and Guest Luncheon with Michael Phelps, holder of all-time records for Olympic gold medals, who shared the work and impact of his Foundation.

JC Scholars found the Forum an eye-opening experience, leading them to rethink the work of philanthropy in a much broader spectrum.

Words from participating JC Scholars:

“With inspiring lectures from renowned speakers all over the world, the Forum allows us to rethink the importance of collaboration and the role of philanthropy in creating better cities in this market driven society.”

“There is still much work to be done in the field of philanthropy. Taking the initiative to learn about it is the first step forward.”
