THE HONG KONG JOCKEY CLUB CHARITIES TRUST
Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the Government in combatting illegal gambling. The Club is Hong Kong’s largest single taxpayer and one of the city’s major employers. Its Charities Trust is also one of the world’s top ten charity donors.
Working with the Government, non-governmental organisations and community partners, the Club’s Charities Trust proactively seeks out the root causes of social issues, bringing multiple and cross-sectoral parties together to address them through innovative approaches. While the Trust funds a wide range of projects, it is placing special emphasis on four areas – “Positive Ageing & Elderly Care”, “Children & Youth Development”, “Healthy Community”, and “Talent & Capacity Building”.
THE HONG KONG JOCKEY CLUB SCHOLARSHIPS
Established in 1998, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarships are dedicated to nurturing local talent.
